Pitcairn Island hosted its inaugural marathon on July 17, 2026, marking a milestone for one of the most remote inhabited islands in the world. The course used a lap format designed to be accessible to runners and walkers of all abilities, with no time limit.
The 2026 field was full, with 12 international runners representing six countries making the extraordinary voyage to compete. Shorter distances were also available free of charge to local Pitcairn Island residents. All finishers received a medal, a runner's T-shirt, and a finisher certificate.

Most of the inaugural field were members of Marathon Globetrotters • a club dedicated to running a marathon in as many countries as possible. Pitcairn Island became the newest entry on some very long lists.
