International Dark Sky Week is a worldwide celebration of the dark and natural night.  For many, the dark night is often misunderstood, unfamiliar, and frightening. But the natural night is filled with wonder and awe, and is critical to the health and wellbeing of our planet. We invite you to join Pitcairn as we discover the night together and take action to reduce light pollution!

β€œIt is with great pleasure that I officially declare the week of April 2nd to April 8th, 2024, as lnternational Dark Sky Week in the Pitcairn lslands. This week provides a unique opportunity for us all to immerse ourselves in the breathtaking beauty of the cosmos. We are proud to support initiatives that raise awareness about the importance of preserving our night skies. I trust that this campaign will inspire our community and visitors alike to appreciate the natural wonder and importance of the startlit sky.” - Mayor, Simon Young.
