Pitcairn Coffee Beans Journey To London!

It’s not every day you hear about a cup of coffee selling for $42, but here on Pitcairn, big things often start small.

Jayden and Kimiora Warren-Peu have been hard at work picking the first real harvest from coffee trees their family planted over 13 years ago. It’s no easy job — hot days, thorny weeds, and long hours bending and picking — but the reward is sweeter than any honey (which, by the way, they also make).

Their beans are headed all the way to London, where a fancy coffee company will roast and sell it for a pretty penny. Described as light and sweet, with hints of hazelnut, chocolate, and honey, it sounds like a brew worth waiting for. Funny thing is, Jayden and Kimiora haven’t even tasted it yet — they don’t have a proper roaster on island! Their mum tried roasting some in the air fryer, but, as Jayden joked, "it tasted like rubbish."

The hope is that Pitcairn coffee can find a proud place on the world stage, just like the famous beans from St Helena. With our rich soil and sunny days, we’ve got a real shot.

The Warren-Peu’s aren’t alone in this dream. Family and neighbors often lend a hand with picking. Even Mrs T, the island’s old tortoise, has made the coffee grove her second home. Tourists spot her there and, before long, they’re asking about the coffee too — free advertising at its finest.

With luck and a little patience, Pitcairn’s coffee could help build a brighter future for our island. One bean at a time.
