For all electronic equipment that you may bring with you, the voltage on the island is 230-240Volts. Travel adaptors may be required, if so, our plug / socket system is the Australia / New Zealand standard.
As with most Islands throughout the Pacific, mosquito repellent is strongly advised.
Travel insurance is strongly advised in case of bad weather should lengthen the travelling time to the nearest Airport to the Island. There are only two flights a week from Mangareva (The Gambier Islands, French Polynesia), the closest Airport to Pitcairn.
When planning a trip to the Pitcairn Islands you should take into account the remoteness of the Island. There is a minimum of 2-3 days sea travel to the nearest airport, providing there is a ship or boat around to take you back. There are no shopping malls, no ATM machines and medical assistance is strictly limited. If you require medication, we strongly advise that you seek extra supplies from your doctor prior to travelling.
It is compulsory for all visitors to Pitcairn Islands to have full medical insurance, including medevac cover in caseof an accident on the island.
Pitcairn’s average summer temperature ranges from 20-30 degrees centigrade. In winter it can drop as low as 12 degrees centigrade. The humidity ranges from 60-100% all year round.
There is no dress code on the island, most of the year only shorts and a T-Shirt are required, but it is advisable to bring some trousers and perhaps a jumper for those cooler nights. Wintry temperatures can be felt from May to October.
All souvenirs on the island are priced in US Dollars. You can, however, change what cash you have on the Island at the Treasury Office located in the town square.
Post Office and Government Store prices are listed in New Zealand Dollars, which are the official currency.
The main religion on the island is Seventh Day Adventism. Church is every Saturday at 11am. Dress code is casual. You are more than welcome to attend, but do not feel obliged.
All persons wishing to travel to the Pitcairn Islands must obtain a visitors visa from the Pitcairn Islands Office.
Currently the landing fee starts at US$30.00 per person.

Alcohol is available for purchase at the Government Store and at Christian’s cafe.
Upon your arrival on the Island your hosts will meet you at the wharf and transport you to your accommodation.
